Destiny Montemayor
Ms. Montemayor received her B.A. in Mass Communications, with a concentration in broadcast journalism and a minor in Spanish, from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) in 2009. While at ULM, she was a member of the university’s track and field team, participating on a full-ride scholarship. Ms. Montemayor received her M. Ed. in educational leadership and policy studies (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2016. Shortly before embarking on the M. Ed., Ms. Montemayor became a teacher in Texas and worked as a middle school teacher for eight years before entering law school. During this time, Ms. Montemayor coached volleyball, basketball, and track and field, taught science, history, English, and physical education subjects, and trained for the 2016 Olympic trials. Deciding to move on from education, Ms. Montemayor got accepted into Southern University Law Center (SULC). She gained most of her legal experience from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Texas House of Representatives while participating in organizations on campus, such as the President of the Latino/a Law Students Association and Executive Editor of the university’s Journal of Race, Gender, and Poverty. Finally, Ms. Montemayor received her J.D. in Law, graduating top twenty percent of her class, Cum Laude, from SULC in the spring of 2024.
