Matthew Capen
Mr. Capen received his Bachelor of Science in 2019 from Indiana University – Bloomington, where he majored in Law and Public Policy. He earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 2022, where he was a member of the DePaul Law Review. During law school, Mr. Capen gained valuable experience through multiple internships, including positions with the National Women’s Soccer League and Chicago-based law firms with a focus on insurance law.
Before joining Thomas Quinn, Mr. Capen’s legal experience focused on insurance law and civil litigation. His experience navigating insurance-specific issues on behalf of carriers with a focus on civil litigation has equipped him with the skills necessary for the dynamic field of Defense Base Act work.
Mr. Capen is based in the Chicago office, where his practice focuses on representing employers and carriers in claims brought under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, as extended by the Defense Base Act.
